Natalia Villate, MD, is a 1987-graduate of Universidad Del Rosario in Columbia. Her postgraduate training includes her internship in internal medicine at The Pitie–Salpetriere Hospital in Paris, France, postgraduate immunology course at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, France, and a pre–residency research fellowship in uveitis at the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research. Upon returning to Columbia, she completed her residency in ophthalmology at Fundacion Oftalmologica Nacional, followed by a one-year fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery. Dr. Villate then relocated to the United States, where she served an internship and residency in ophthalmology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, where she served as chief resident. She then conducted a medical retina fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Villate attained board certification in ophthalmology with the American Board of Ophthalmology. Furthermore, she is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
